Spirits is an independent project that I run with some of my Video Game Design Master colleagues.
It is an interactive story: playing as a spirit who watches events from ‘above the ground’, the player follows the events concerning a character in an Old Western set. Being a spirit, the player cannot directly act on the character’s world; but he can talk with him, providing valuations and hints on how to face the situations he is involved into. The core idea of the project was to develop an interactive experience that could evoke a wide spectrum of emotions into the players, through the use of articulate multiple-choice dialogues between him and the game characters. Game contents have been edited with GameMaker.
The SPIRIT project has been financed completely by ourselves, and it took place in Genova, Italy, from June to September 2008.
